Wetherden lies just north of the A14, between Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds, and has just around 500 inhabitants.

Apart from excellent road connections, there is a bus service to Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket and the nearest train station is Elmswell, just 10 minutes away, with train services to Cambridge and Ipswich with onward connections to London.

 St Mary's church dates back in parts to the XIVth century and is open for visitors most days of the year. There is also a Baptist Chapel in the village. Both hold regular Sunday services.

A playing field complete with a recreational area for all ages and a playground for youngsters is sited behind the newly refurbished village hall, which is available for hire.

We pride ourselves in having some beautiful half timbered and thatched houses giving a view of how Suffolk would have looked up to five centuries ago.

There are a number of activities in Wetherden, including a history group, a book club, table tennis, tennis, whist drive, an active scout group, and a twinning association together with nearby Haughley twinned with Noyelles-les-Seclin, in northern France

Whilst there is no accommodation available in the centre of the village, there is a Travelodge close by on the way towards Stowmarket and a number of excellent Bed and Breakfast establishments in nearby villages.
